Active Listening – Proud Supporters of Ball Haye Green FC

We were joined at our first team’s latest home game by France Bromley, who’s son Beck died from suicide at the age of 19.
As a club we’re proudly supporting Active Listening and all our Saturday senior teams kits have this on their match shirts, the latest being our first teams home kit which Frances was delighted to present, and our Sunday development side have this on their new tracksuits.

During the half time break Frances spoke to a group of players about Active Listening and discussed creating a safety plan, which the lads all took on board and went on to spread awareness to others at the game.
With the numbers from surveys showing that 1 in 4 have had thoughts about suicide, and 1 in 15 have acted on it then, when translated on a football pitch that’s a notable number out of a starting line up. We aim to educate and support as many as we can and we spoke of the ripple effect of passing on the positive information to others. We will ensure we have the support resources in all changing rooms where we play and have our shirts carry a QR code to all of the links.
