OUR CLUB
HISTORY OF BALL HAYE GREEN FOOTBALL CLUB
We have 3 adult football teams with our First Team playing in the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division, our Reserves play in the SCSL Division 2 and our Development Team play in the Uttoxeter & District Sunday League Division 1. We also have a number of youth teams to highlight a clear pathway from junior to adult football.
Proudly representing Leek and the Staffordshire Moorlands since 1880, Ball Haye Green FC is more than just a football club — we’re a community built on passion, ambition, and a love for the game.

CLUB
2025 saw us celebrate our 145th anniversary and it was made all the more special as our First Team were crowned champions of the Premier Division in the Staffs County Senior League. It was a brilliant achievement for everyone involved and capped a remarkable return of fortune for the Club
It’s been 8 long years since we lost our home ground of over 80 years, a decision that left us with absolutely nothing except the Club name. Suffice to say it’s been a long and at times torturous journey but we never lost sight of the endeavours of those who’d been before us and I’m incredibly proud of the hard work our committee has undertaken over that period to keep us on track.
Having stared into the abyss, we vowed to take every opportunity to make progress and we’ve been true to our word. We haven’t been able to do this without the help of many people in the football community and without naming names I’d like to thank everyone involved in our journey so far. Your contribution will never be overlooked.
With regards to the future, our ambitions still burn as brightly as ever as we continue to move the Club forward. We currently have 3 teams in open age football, all competing at the top half of their respective leagues, not to mention 3 teams at youth level who now have a designated pathway.
The Manchester League of the 1950’s has always been revered as the halcyon playing days for BHG which saw the likes of Duncan Edwards play for Manchester Utd ‘A’ come to Leek. Naturally we will always honour the memory of those great times however we can’t always remain in the past and going forward we hold aspirations of promotion for all of our adult sides.
In addition to this we’ve never lost hope of one day returning to our homeland in ST13 6BH. Barry Birch championed our cause and he fought passionately to keep it in the public domain. We remain confident the Leek North team will successfully deliver on the project as an everlasting legacy to the great man.
In the short term we can only focus on the things we can control and if we going to achieve our dreams, we will need the support of our local community so I urge people to join us on our journey. Let’s make the future Green!!
