Match Report: Ball Haye Green FC vs Rocester FC

Gr-Eight night for Green

Green came into this 2nd v 3rd clash in seventh heaven following their cup victory at the weekend, and in a blistering opening 8 minutes steamrollered into a 3 goal lead. Josh Oultram opened the scoring inside a minute and doubled his and Greens tally on 4 as he struck again. Jay Blurton continued the opening onslaught by making it 3 on 8 minutes.

A quick chance to catch breath and for the birthday boys Archie Ellam and Charlie Ratcliffe to join in the goalscoring – Ellams got the first of his brace after 12 minutes to put green firmly in control before the quarter hour mark and it looked that would be it for a barnstorming first half until Archie chipped in his second to be followed by Ratcliffe to go into the break with a 6 goal advantage.

With Keilan Bond & Dave Bailey having the easier of the half time team talks it was Green who continued the second half where they’d stared off with Jay ‘Bomber’ Blurton getting the second of his brace on 52 minutes. With the tie out of reach of the visiting Romans a number of substitutions were made as the management had the chance to shuffle the pack in preparedness for a hectic schedule of cup games coming up, whilst still ensuring Elliot Cooper could keep a fourth consecutive clean sheet.

James Halfpenny signed off before his travels with a trademark turn and finish in the box to make it eight, as Green moved past Rocester into second place. A break from the league now as 3 cup games loom with the first being the visit of FC Hanley on Friday night in the Staffordshire FA Senior Vase.
