Match Report: Ball Haye Green vs AFC Norton

Ball Haye Green delivered a superb second-half performance to secure a convincing 5–1 victory over AFC Norton after a challenging start to the game.

The visitors struck early, taking the lead inside the opening ten minutes and putting Green on the back foot. It was not the start the hosts wanted, but the response was immediate and impressive.

Just five minutes after going behind, Jay Blurton pulled Ball Haye Green level. Reacting sharply in the box, he finished well to restore parity and settle any early nerves. It was a crucial moment in the match and ensured the teams went in all square at the break despite Green not quite finding their rhythm in the first half.

The opening 45 lacked fluency from the hosts. While there were moments of promise, Ball Haye Green were not at their usual standard and struggled at times to control possession or impose sustained pressure.

The second half, however, was a completely different story.

Green emerged with far greater intensity and composure. The pressing improved, the movement was sharper, and the quality in the final third began to show.

The turning point came through a moment of real individual brilliance from Rob Pearson. Collecting the ball near the halfway line, he produced a superb turn that took two Norton players out of the game in one movement before driving forward and firing a powerful strike from outside the box into the bottom corner. A fantastic goal that lifted the entire side and swung momentum firmly in Green’s favour.

From there, Ball Haye Green took control. Charlie Ratcliffe added another as the hosts began to dominate proceedings, while Josh Oultram and Jay Blurton both found the net to complete a ruthless second-half display.

Norton had no answer to the energy and quality shown after the restart, and Green saw the game out comfortably to secure an emphatic win.

A tale of two halves — a difficult start followed by a commanding response — and another strong statement from Ball Haye Green.
